Friendly: Milton Keynes 8 – 13 Spencer 3’s
Canterbury Christchurch University were unable to fulfil our scheduled league game today due to unforeseen travel issues, so alas they had to concede the game.
Instead we invited players from the Spencer 3rd team to travel up from London. The Spencer 3’s play in the division above so this was going to be a good experience for many of the MK squad. To create two even sized teams, some from MK joined the Spencer 3’s together with a player from Welwyn 2’s (who had no game). Come 2pm, it was game-on.
The early exchanges showed the two teams were evenly matched. The visitors held a small lead at half-time, then pulled ahead in the 3rd quarter. The MK defence was young, athletic but not that experienced, compared to the Spencer 3’s attack who were considerably older but also lacrosse wiser. That’s the key difference between East Division 2 and East Division 3. We can probably match an East 2 team for fitness and hustle, but it’s lacrosse know-how that will get better week by week.
