Friendly: Reading 2’s 8 – 4 Milton Keynes
The scheduled games for both Reading 2’s (at Hitchin A) and MK (at Maidstone 2’s) were cancelled so Reading very kindly offered to host a friendly game at their ground so that we did not miss out on lacrosse action this weekend.
Reading 2’s play in the division above (East Div 2) and during the opening exchanges, MK were the dominant team, opening up a two goal lead early in the game.
Reading had a game on their hands, and were very welcome for it. The MK squad was thin, with illness, motorway chaos and a couple of players with Saturday morning complications meant our 14-man squad ended up being the bare bones 10 players. So as our legs tired, Reading slowly built up a lead. MK scored last thanks to Richard with a nice finish with 3 seconds left on the game clock.
Lessons learnt today for the MK novice players were; you need midfield substitutes to compete for the full game; good ball movement can quickly pull a defence out of position; lacrosse is the best hangover cure known to man; we can complete with an East Division 2 team.
