League: Milton Keynes 0 – 7 Epsom

Milton Keynes failed to score against East Division 2 champions Epsom but otherwise enjoyed the final league game of the season, in beautiful spring sunshine on the Stantonbury astro. Both teams could enjoy this game with no final weekend promotion or relegation drama. Epsom had sealed the division title two weeks earlier and finish with a W16 L1 record; their only defeat at the hands of 2nd place Spencer 3’s. MK finish with a W8 D1 L9 record which should put us 4th (out of 10) in the table.

Our problem today was scoring goals. We were great in defence and in transition (getting up the field) but could not create goal chances against the experienced Epsom team. Total shots was way less than Epsom and if you don’t shoot, you can’t score. We had no long distance shooting threat which meant we had to try and get inside the Epsom unit. We tried via dodging, we tried via sharp passing, but it was not happening today.

Man-of-the-Match: Kyle Pim who was cat-like in goal, jumping around making some great saves and dashing out of goal to help the defence win some loose balls.

A quick special mention must also go to Matt Levett playing in his first competitive game with Aaron and Christian in defence. Testament to how well he played was when none of the Epsom players had any idea it was his first ever game!

D-of-the Day: Aaron Day for blatantly tripping one the Epsom attackers at the end of the 3rd quarter, but otherwise he put in a another strong performance in defence.
