MK men hold a 2-2 record after opening games
After the first four games of the 2019/20 lacrosse season, the MK men’s team hold a 2-2 record.
The team now has two weeks without a game. Next up is a very winnable game at home against Buckhurst Hill on Saturday 9th November, 2pm, at Stantonbury. MK hope to have Eliot Pugh back in goal for this one after his heroics at the Indoor World Championships for England.
East (North): London University 13-3 Milton Keynes
The season opener was a trip down to north London to play the hybrid team of players from various London universities. Due to multiple pre-season (mostly non lacrosse) injuries and players away for various reasons, MK could only muster 9 players, so played man-down all game. That said, it was a great effort, especially with no recognised goalie and four players taking a quarter each.
Game Stats
13-3 (3-0, 5-1, 7-2, 13-3)
MK Man-to-the-Match: Corey Jamieson
MK D-of-the-Day: Rob Gooch
East Anglia Div 2: Milton Keynes 10-9 Welwyn Warriors 2
Two closely matched teams battled on the lush new 3G field at Stantonbury for the MK opening home game. Never more than two goalie split the teams as it was nail-biting stuff going into the fourth quarter. MK showed a great team ethic, battling until the end to bring home the first win of the season.
Game Stats
10-9 (1-3, 4-4, 8-6, 10-9)
East (North): Milton Keynes 8-5 Camden Capybaras 2
Another close game with a great defensive performance from MK, especially from Jonny Prince, against some dangerous Camden offensive players.
Game Stats
8-5 (2-1, 6-3, 8-4, 8-5)
MK Man-to-the-Match: Jonny Prince
MK D-of-the-Day: Corey Jamieson
East Anglia Div 2: Milton Keynes 5-14 Hitchin A
The visitors dominated the 3rd quarter, scoring 5 unanswered goals to make it a comfortable win in the end. A tactics change may all the difference. Two of the Hitchin more experienced players moved from midfield into the attack and they made hay on any fast-break opportunity.
Game Stats
5-14 (1-2, 4-5, 4-10, 5-14)
MK Man-to-the-Match: Corey Jamieson
MK D-of-the-Day: Guy Clayson
